I subscribed and listened to a couple different podcasts located at http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_genres.php?pod_genre_id=7. Some of the podcasts that I listened to were called Grammar Girl, dansmathcast, learn HTML, and nature podcast. My favorite podcast out of these ones is Grammar Girl. One of the Grammar Girl podcasts focuses on similes and metaphors. This podcast had a music introduction. Then the speaker named, Steve Arobins, who was filling in for the regular “Grammar Girl” gave the definition of similes and metaphors and the differences between them. One thing that I liked about this podcast was that Steve gave many real world examples of similes and metaphors such as song lyrics, comics, and movies. One example that he gave of a simile was the lyric in Bon Jovi’s song “my heart is like an open highway”. The example of a metaphor he gave was from Tom Cochrane’s song “life is a highway”.

I think that there are a couple aspects of this podcast that could be edited or changed. First, it sounds like Steve is reading throughout the whole podcast. Second, this podcast seems to be geared towards an older audience, when it should be geared towards a younger audience. Similes and metaphors are taught in elementary school, but this podcast couldn’t be used as a learning tool for this age group because the wording is for a more mature audience. Overall, I really enjoyed listening to this podcast and will continue following it in the future.
